If you have a question not answered below, please drop us a line.
Q. What if I have a food allergy to nuts or dairy products?
A. We use whole dairy products, nuts, and wheat products. Persons with food allergies to nuts, dairy, grains, gluten, or certain fruits such as strawberries should refrain from consuming our products.

Q. What is fruit curd?
A. Fruit curd is a cooked dessert spread usually made with citrus fruits or berries, egg yolks, and sugar. The result is a flavorful, mildly sweet, smooth spread commonly used in tarts, cakes, pies and other desserts. It is NOT a pudding.

Q. What is a compote?
A. Compote is similar to fruit preserves, but usually eaten fresh, as opposed to preserves, as they are typically "preserved" in a jar for later use. Compote is a mixture of fresh or dried whole or large pieces of fruit, lemon zest and sugar, cooked down to a thickened state. It is usually served as a standing dessert or presented in combination with another dessert.

Q. What is the difference between American and Italian buttercreams?
A. American buttercream is a basic frosting made of butter, shortening, confectioner's sugar, and flavoring that is creamed using a mixer. Italian buttercream is made with whipped egg whites, cooked sugar, butter, and flavoring, requiring a more advanced process of creaming. It is smoother and lighter in texture than American buttercream. Both are very stable and versatile.

Q. Why is my custom cake so expensive?
A. Our cakes are not pre-made, mass produced, or commercially manufactured. You are not just paying for raw materials, but also for the skill, experience, and time it takes to create a special, one-of-a-kind edible work of art just for you. Many variables factor into the total cost of your cake, including the complexity of your design, number of servings, flavors, special colors (such as edible metallic), and special effects (such as gravity cakes). Because of the many different variables involved in designing and making a custom cake, it is nearly impossible to provide a final quote for your cake until all variables have been factored in. A customary guide for wedding cakes is pricing on a per person (p/p) basis. The final cost of your cake can vary greatly, ranging anywhere from $3 - $25 p/p OR MORE, depending on your baker and the variables previously mentioned.

Q: Can I choose any theme or design I want?
A. Yes and no. While we encourage and support unique cakes created as a true reflection of your personal style and theme, we strive to create pleasant, tasteful design aesthetics and work within the scope of our company mission and goals. We reserve the right to refuse service if we deem that a request is not in alignment with our company values, morals, or ideas of tasteful artistry.
